Introducing our remediation team

Context’s team has a history of working on remediation projects across New Zealand. Projects include schools, residential, commercial, mixed-use, and high-rise buildings.

We specialise in large-scale commercial remediation projects. Each project’s design solution is tailored to the specific issues of each building, stakeholder requirements, budgets and most importantly, those using the premises.

We have an experienced team with strong design, commercial, and technical skills — not to mention the people skills that make all the difference on challenging projects.

If you have an issue with your building, get in touch and we’ll talk to you about undertaking an initial assessment. We can then provide sound recommendations on whether remediation or retrofit is the long-term solution you need.

Craig Birch

Principal
Registered Architect, BArch, Dip Landscape Architecture

Craig has worked at Context for seven years and leads the practice’s aged care, remediation, and sustainability teams. He understands buildings from the ground up and the outside in; his earlier career included stints as a building surveyor and landscape designer. His sector experience extends from Ministry of Education contracts to aged care, hospitality, and commercial buildings.

Craig is passionate about the environment and has served on the Environmental Issues Group for the New Zealand Institute of Architects and is an accredited practitioner for the New Zealand Green Building Council. He believes in walking the sustainability talk, so he used Passive House principles – an approach that creates ultra-low energy homes – to design and build his own house.
