Context student open day

Earlier this month, we hosted an open day for Year 12 and 13 students to introduce them to different pathways into the industry.

We have been working with Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities and the MSD Jobs and Skills Hubs to encourage Māori and Pasifika students to consider career options within the design and construction industries. This relationship began because of our work with Kāinga Ora on the HDS project, and we are now in direct contact with City Centre Jobs and Skills Hub facilitators looking at opportunities to visit schools to showcase our services. Other ideas being discussed include design sessions with students and collaborating with other contractors for school roadshows.

Our first open day at our Kingsland studio was a resounding success. Patrick Walmsley and the digital team showed off our BIMx, VR and 3D site scanning technology, while Alasdair Hood led a session on designing the perfect room for a teenager.

Thanks to all those who came and those involved. We’re looking at running more sessions in 2024.
