Westpac The Terrace, Christchurch

Brief
We were asked to design a flagship branch for Westpac, located in The Terrace – a $140-million riverfront development at the heart of Christchurch city.

From virtual reality to riverfront flagship
One of the key features of Christchurch’s regeneration masterplan, The Terrace development was the ideal location to house Westpac’s newest flagship branch. We used virtual reality throughout the design process to allow clients, consultants, and contractors to walk around the unbuilt space. We were then able to take onboard their feedback and refine the design, long before we went on site.

By building trust in the design with project stakeholders, decisions could be made faster and guaranteed a snag-free build.

Commenting on the finished branch, Westpac’s Manager of Capital Projects, Shane Goss said, “The flagship branch is stunning, vibrant and contemporary in design. What’s more, our customers love the shift to a more relaxed environment.”
