Brief
We were asked by client Westpac to refurbish an existing branch located in a busy central Auckland mall. The new fit-out included increased tenancy space to turn the branch into a Banking Centre, offering more benefits and services to Westpac customers.
Bigger, better banking while you shop
As Westpacโs lead design consultant, weโve been working with the banking giant since 2005, conceptualising new branch designs and leading a customer-focused transformation across its national property network. The latest branch to be refitted is located on the first floor of St Lukes mall, with an exterior of large windows facing the street, rather than being enveloped in the central mall. With a high footfall, Westpac wanted to extend the footprint of the branch to create a Banking Centre.
Context was involved at every stage of the project, from an initial site visit and assessment, test fits, design development, procurement, contract administration and as-built/completion documents. The modular design revolves around ensuring Westpacโs brand and values shine through, providing the best in customer experience.
Our digital team was also involved in the project, undertaking 3D capture of the branch space to provide accurate measurements and assist in speeding up the design process. We worked closely with Scentre Group โ Westfieldโs shopping centre management team โ providing them with a design report to visually show how we would deliver the project. Transparency and good communication were key to progressing this project. The newly created Banking Centre opened at the end of February.
