Context is Everything

Set on a steep and irregular site in Auckland, the Murphy’s Road development showcases how challenging topography can be transformed into a design asset. Context was engaged to masterplan a 120-home community that maximises views, integrates with the native landscape, and delivers strong commercial outcomes.

The design responds to the landform with a hierarchy of streets and lanes, creating three distinct character zones defined by building form, materiality, and landscaping. Homes are positioned to capture views across native bush, Otara Creek catchment, and out to the Hauraki Gulf and Auckland CBD.

Riparian planting and native species blur the edges between built form and forest, reinforcing ecological connections. Carefully planned outdoor spaces offer solar access and privacy, while grouped parking ensures the landscape remains central to the experience of place.
