Publicly listed global industrial property company Goodman Group approached us to remodel the offices for flagship tenant Air New Zealand.

Newly designed HQ takes off for Air NZ
The lease for Air New Zealand’s head office located on Fanshawe Street in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter was due to expire when Goodman’s asked us to redesign the airlines headquarters. We were immediately struck by the potential for a win-win: a dramatically remodelled building with lower running costs and newly impeccable sustainability credentials – a living, breathing building to credit landlord and tenant.

Our solution was to cradle the courtyard in a glazed full-height atrium and connect the two sides. It would create a beautiful internal space with cantilevered meeting pods projecting into the void and half height glass balustrades where previously there had only been glazed walls.

Wall-detailing that helps cool the building would create a striking lenticular rendition of the Air New Zealand logo – appearing and disappearing as you drive or walk by – at the same size it appears on the tailfin of a Boeing 777.
