Taupō District Council’s new 4,400m2 commercial hub south of the township in the Kokomea Park subdivision, is part of a wider master plan to deliver sustainable communities within the East Urban Lands development.
A mix of commercial core and carpark landscaping, pedestrian connections, retail and commercial street frontage treatments were developed, incorporating the natural materials being used on the surrounding buildings.
In the relatively bare environment of a new subdivision, particular care was taken with hardscaping and ground level landscaping, introducing organising elements and resilient, fast-growing plant species to assist rapid establishment.
