Brick is used extensively, providing visual diversity in a large development. The use of brick has a strong connection to the site. Māori worked clay in the area for many years and brickworks were a primary industry until the 1930s. It’s durability, low maintenance and excellent acoustic properties made it the material of choice.
Building orientation to maximise sunlight in living areas, energy-efficient heating systems and rainwater harvesting deliver a development with sustainable, affordable homes.
