Situated in Christchurch, the client envisioned a modern and distinctive aesthetic that would set their home apart from the neighboring houses while maintaining harmony within the community. They desired a sanctuary of peace and comfort, with low maintenance and operational costs, which necessitated excellent acoustic and thermal insulation. Featuring a flat roof and floor-to-ceiling windows, this house makes a striking impression on the Clearwater Estate.
The house is a single-storey structure with specific engineering requirements to meet NZ building standards. The scale of the house required the use of some light commercial strategies and materials to achieve a robust and compliant building fabric.
