Context is Everything

AIAL were looking to create a best in class food and beverage space that delivers a welcoming, special, interesting and memorable experience.  In return to the brief Context deliver concept designs that contained visual excitement, enticing and encouraging customer engagement.  The proposed space offered a true sense of place – including iconic design features which leave a lasting and memorable customer experience. The design would produce a space that has a distinctly New Zealand feel but with a modern undertone to it.  The space is one that customers want to dwell in before heading up the stairs to the departures area and one that caters to those wanting to grab and go in a hurry with clean entry and exits paths.

Context’s concept aptly named “The Clearing” was inspired by the contemporary landscape paintings of Rita Angus and Louise Henderson, the concept is a contemporary take, not only on our lush forests, but to the wider beauty of New Zealand’s diverse landscapes with their warm, earthy colours.
